You look around the room. It seems an unnecessarily limited question. The blue bowl likes the light. The tall thing in the corner is very good beside the low thing, despite neither of them having arrived with that ambition. The small orange object continues to justify itself entirely through being orange.

You have tried buying things because they would go with the things you already own. This sometimes works. Other times you bring home something so agreeable that the rest of the room looks as though it is waiting for instructions. You prefer the occasional argument. It gives you something to rearrange while the kettle boils.

Before your visitor arrived, you spent a while deciding whether to move the tall thing to the windowsill. You tried it, walked to the door, came back and moved it again. Somewhere in the middle of this you put on the patterned crewneck you had been looking forward to wearing. When the bell rang, the room and its occupant were both still being considered. You decided they were ready enough to have company.

Your visitor moves a little closer to the shelf. They pick a favorite, which turns out to be the object you had the longest private debate about. You tell them this. They ask where you found it, and you begin explaining.

By the time you finish, they have moved it beside the blue bowl. You consider the result. Apparently some things do match. They just needed somebody else to mention it.
