You leave the house with a small, manageable intention. One thing. It has a name, a location, and no obvious reason to take the afternoon. Then you see someone you know, discover that the usual place is closed, and remember another thing that would be easy to do while you're already out. The original errand is still with you, although it has become less central to the day.
By the time you stop for something to eat, you have heard about a neighbor's holiday, held a door for a person carrying an astonishingly large plant, and acquired a recommendation you didn't ask for but rather like. Someone messages to ask where you are. You could give an address. It would only describe the current stage of a situation that has become pleasantly difficult to summarize.
On the way home, you remember the first thing. It is mildly embarrassing to discover that a day can contain this much activity while leaving its one stated purpose untouched. You consider going back, then notice a familiar face coming toward you. There is probably time for a quick hello.
