A Better Angle — Low-Profile Cap

You have walked along this street often enough to believe you know it, then sit on the other side and discover that a building has been keeping a perfectly good window from you. There is a plant in it. There may also be a person looking out, which briefly complicates your research. You return your attention to the coffee.

A familiar place can rearrange itself when you stop trying to get through it. From here, you can see the little garden behind the wall, the upstairs room, the shopkeeper's elaborate conversation with someone you thought was only buying a newspaper. None of it has been installed for your benefit. You have simply changed where you are standing, an economical way to acquire part of a new neighborhood.

Later, you cross back and the usual street returns, slightly less complete than you once believed. There are other angles available. You don't have to investigate all of them today; the coffee is still warm and you have finally found a seat that isn't wobbling. This seems like a reasonable place to continue knowing a little less than everything.
